On Friday 10 March last, the Burundi branch of NSI Group signed a first agreement with FENACOBU for providing them with its electronic payment solution.

The deal was signed at the NSI Burundi head office in the presence of a large delegation of FENACOBU Senior Management, led by Mr. Vincent Nibigira, general manager.

The agreement covers a mobile banking and mobile payment solution.

NSI will now for the first time roll out this major component of its integrated electronic payment solution in Burundi.

For nearly 35 years now, and for the greater benefit of all Burundi people, FENACOBU: Fédération Nationale des Coopératives d’Epargne et de Crédit du Burundi or National Federation of Savings and Credit Cooperatives of Burundi – has been has been instrumental in popularizing banking by facilitating access to credit and savings for the many instead of the few. It is a major player in the development of financial education and awareness with all ranks of the population/

It is now entering the era of digitalisation for the purpose of both improving the service to its customers through increased availability and accessibility of payment and money transfer functionalities and for (through gaining new users who are not yet banking customers and who are, hence, deprived of financial services.

Richard Michel CEO of NSI Group and Vincent Nibigira, seconded by Jean Claude Nimenya, administrative and financial director of FENACOBU signed together this agreement establishing a sound basis for the cooperation between their respective businesses but also with the Burundi financial circles.
